Once upon a time in a Glitter-Box by the sea

Lived two little girls, Summer and Ruby

They woke up every morn and went down to the sand

Swam around with the dolphins away from the land

Then they'd write little poems and strum their guitars
They'd sing and they'd dance to the sun and the stars
Ruby's heart was broken, she'd cry every day
Over the boy with sad eyes and nothing nice to say
Summer sought revenge for the boy who lived next door
Those two lovers were on their way to a hundred year war
So the girls sang and sang and put their hearts on the page
They cried and they sobbed till the tears flew away

They'd sleep in blue nightgowns with bows in their hair

In a big fluffy bed with a Shiba Inu named Bear
Then they're poems got longer and they sang a little louder
Then they noticed their musique gave them magical power
'Cause the city people heard them, all those men in black suits
They loved the girls music and thought they were cute
"Come along!" said the men, "Sing for us all"
So the girls closed their eyes and let the melodies fall
"Bravo!" said the men "You must join our club"
'We'll turn you to roses, no more daffodil shrubs!"
"Hooray!" said the girls "We'll do what you ask!"
So the men gave them boots and big cowboy hats
"Don't take them off" said the man at the door
"Or you can't be a part our club anymore"
So the girls went back home, and wrote song after song
But something was not right, something was quite wrong
"This hat is too big" said Ruby Soleil 
"These boots just don't fit" said sister Summer Rae
"We're in the wrong club!" the girls both exclaimed
"We must tell the men, and get out right away!"
So the girls in their nightgowns with diet cokes in hand
Dialed the number of the Powerful Good Man
"The hat was too big, and the boots didn't fit"
"We're sorry to say to your club we must quit"
They hung up the phone and grabbed their guitars
And went back to dancing to the sun and the stars
'Cause these girls are mermaids, they're poets you see
They belong in their Glitter-Box under the Forgiveness Tree
But that was long ago, it's a new day today
Life moves pretty quickly livin' in the Milky Way
The girls have new poems and new stories to tell
They're with Seany Records, they're club's pretty swell
They're album is coming, it's due out in the spring
It's called "Mermaids and Poets" when you hear it you'll scream
It's about boys in Paris, chanson que j'adore
It's rainbows and dance floors and kisses galore
So I hope that you understand this story you hear
These two little sisters, have worked hard this year
They've fought many storms but they keep moving on
And their love for each other will never be gone
'Cause love is the secret, the magnet, the juice
It's the impulse of nature, the fountain of youth
And this is the unfinished story of the girls by the sea
